This amazing tour takes us into the crater of a volcano during the journey into the depth of the Earth. Iceland is the only place in the world where such a trip into the crater of a volcano is possible. After a half-hour drive from Reykjavik and 45 minutes' walk (3 km each way), we will reach the entrance to the crater Thríhnúkagígur (there is no point in breaking teeth trying to pronounce its name). Special equipment will take us down into the trend chamber at the depth of 120 meters to the bottom of the crater and allow us to see a new world that was hidden before.
Thríhnúkagígur volcano is a dormant volcano which last eruption occurred 4,000 years ago. The translation of the mountain's name is "crater with three peaks". One of the three peaks is the entrance where we will start our trip down into the crater deep into the Earth. To get an idea of the depth of the crater - the Statue of Liberty can enter easily into the crater!
