Conquer Iceland's wild highland interior — from the colorful rhyolite mountains of Landmannalaugar to geothermal wonders, powerful waterfalls and volcanic landscapes.
A real 4×4 adventure. Trip to the highland interior mountains and green plains and valleys of Iceland. The itinerary covers most of the interesting views of the island and the colorful mountain of Landmannalaugar nature reserve. This 10-day adventure promises a deep dive into Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders, offering a perfect blend of exploration, relaxation, and adventure.
Pick up your 4×4 at Keflavik Airport and drive to Reykjavík, Iceland's vibrant capital. After check-in, explore the city center — visit Hallgrímskirkja Church, the serene Lake Tjörnin, and the iconic Perlan offering panoramic city views.
Start your journey with Iceland's most celebrated route. Visit Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at the Keríð volcanic crater lake, watch Strokkur erupt every few minutes, then finish the day at the thundering Gullfoss Waterfall.
Venture into Iceland's spectacular highland interior to the legendary Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve. Marvel at its colorful rhyolite mountains — a mosaic of reds, yellows, greens and purples. Explore volcanic fissures and unwind in natural geothermal hot springs.
Travel the historic Kjölur road between glaciers Langjökull and Hofsjökull. Stop at the colorful Kerlingarfjöll geothermal area with vivid hot springs and fumaroles. Continue through Hveravellir, then descend into Skagafjörður on to Akureyri, North Iceland's cultural hub.
Visit Goðafoss, the "Waterfall of the Gods," then explore the fascinating landscapes around Lake Mývatn — known for lava formations, craters, and geothermal features. Continue to Húsavík, the whale-watching capital of Iceland.
Explore Jökulsárgljúfur National Park with its horseshoe-shaped Ásbyrgi Canyon, dramatic Dettifoss — Europe's most powerful waterfall — and volcanic rock formations at Hljóðaklettar.
Discover Jökulsárlón Ice Lagoon, where icebergs drift in crystal-clear waters. Continue to Skaftafell National Park for hiking to Svartifoss, the "Black Waterfall." Visit Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon before ending the day in Kirkjubæjarklaustur.
Journey through the picturesque East Fjords, stopping to see Petra's famous stone collection in Stöðvarfjörður or join a boat trip to Papey Island. Conclude in Höfn, a charming fishing village near Vatnajökull Glacier.
Drive along Iceland's South Coast, starting at Reynisfjara black lava beach. Climb to the Dyrhólaey lighthouse. Pass Eyjafjallajökull glacier, then the powerful Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss — unique for its path behind the cascade.
Return to Reykjavík for a final stroll before heading to the airport. Drive across the Reykjanes Peninsula, stopping at Krýsuvík's bubbling mud pits. Drop off your car at the airport and board your flight home.
